America, The Great Disillusion

America has a gun problem but we would rather deport all of the people who weren’t born here. Most mass shootings happen by Americans but, statistics, science, this admin doesn’t care.

263 mass shootings have happened just this year. But the government wants us to look away because the right to bear arms, it’s in the constitution. Let’s keep that part but ignore the rest that’s the American solution.

America has a Healthcare problem. America would rather its citizens die in an old hospital parking lot than give them Healthcare. Hospitals are businesses and if they don’t make a profit, close them down and pocket the money. That sounds fair. It’s the American way.

All the government sees is green and that makes sense because senators and congress sold their medical stock before gutting medicaid.

America has a housing crisis but when corporations want to buy an entire block of houses to leave vacant that is the payment for capitalism. And when the homeless person who would’ve purchased that house is a nuisance for sitting on the street, the government will put them in a private for profit prison next to the young man that they’ve been tracking since his grades slipped in the 8th grade.

America has always been the worldwide narcissist. It was only a matter of time before the entire world noticed it.

America’s downfall is its lack of self-awareness but also it’s individuality. The don’t tread on me but help me, and the get off of my land. The American government lacks such awareness that when the other countries ignore us and prosper, it will be as if we didn’t understand.

We can’t see across our borders and we don’t want anyone else in but that “me first” mentality allows for the fall of democracy and for facism to begin.

An excerpt from a book I read last year that feels very pertinent to today’s times. Every big stain on history started with, “that could never happen here” and by the time people realized that it happened, it was too late to go back. Don’t be that.

“So how long do you think it’s gonna be before Reverend Carl and his holy Pure Blue sheep get it in their heads that it ain’t just women and men who were made differently under God’s eyes, but blacks and whites? You think mixed marriages like mine are part of the plan? If you do, you’re not as smart as I thought.” I feel myself going red. “I never thought about it.” “Course you never. Look, I don’t mean to be unkind, but you white gals, all you’re worried about is, well, all you’re worried about is you white gals. Me, I got more to fret over than whether I have a hundred words a day. I got my girls, too. We still send ’em to that school and do what we can on the weekends, until we can figure out a way to get out of here and over the border, but Del and I know a tide’s comin’ in. I guess before the year’s out, we’ll start seein’ more than just separate schools for boys and girls. And just like now, they ain’t gonna be equal. “. Vox; Christina Dalcher
